Presidential Election

Voting is a very important privilege we should all be proud to have in our wonderful country. It is a privilege that should be respected and valued. It is a privilege granted to all citizens in good standing in our country. It is a privilege that has been fought for on battlegrounds, in grassroots efforts, and in courtrooms. It is not an automatic right that is given to anyone who enters our country. It is not an inalienable right as the privilege can be taken away based on the commission of a felony. It is a privilege that invites us to participate in choosing individuals to lead our various government offices. It is a privilege that invites us to participate in determining the action taken on a wide variety of issues. It is a privilege that is serious business.

Considering the grand significance of this privilege in most areas of our country we are required to present verification that we are who we say we are and that we live where we say we live. This seems logical and fitting to me. I do not want any individual claiming to be me acting on this privilege for their own purpose. I do not want someone participating who is not a citizen or who has cost themself the loss of this privilege. Is someone who is actively practicing deceit or someone who is voting for people and on issues in a country where they are not a citizen practicing the basic principles of our country? Could such individuals have another agenda that has nothing to do with what is best for that city, that county, that state, or our country?

Identification is not difficult to obtain and is the least that can be asked of anyone wishing to enjoy the privilege of voting. I will not insult any group of people by insinuating they are cognitively deficient to procure a valid form of identification. I think such insinuation is deplorable. Perhaps instead of attempting to legalize voting without ID, those who promote such a thing should provide public service announcements regarding how to acquire an ID… that is if they truly think obtaining an ID is so difficult. If those who promote legalizing voting without ID don’t really believe attaining an ID is difficult, then what is their true motivation for that stance?

This Presidential election is extremely important. I want to know everyone who votes is honestly exercising this privilege….and doing so only one time.

I am very proud to have the privilege to vote and I am very proud to present my identification to verify my voting status.
